IF YOU were at Tabcorp Park Menangle – or somewhere roughly within a five kilometre radius – last night you probably heard Tiarn Sutton screaming.

No, Sutton’s kids or husband weren’t annoying her for more chips or running up and down the stairs causing her tension.

That said, it was her husband, Leigh, who was responsible for the screaming (some would say “again”, but this journalist wouldn’t!)

This time it was screams of excitement as Leigh drove Team Of Starzzz to an upset win.

Although she is no stranger to watching Leigh make his way into the winners’ circle, this was different for Sutton as she is the trainer and it was her maiden metropolitan victory.

“I think I chased him along the straight,” Sutton said. “My legs and arms were shaking with excitement about 15 minutes after the race!

“I’m so happy for the owners too…I had a tear in my eyes as it was great all round.”

Eased away from barrier four, Team Of Starzzz settled midfield as La Safron and then I Am Serengeti set the pace.

Angled three-wide on the final bend, the son of Four Starzzz Shark quickly dashed to the front before staving off a late challenge from Flying Pegasus to score by a head.

Last Party was three metres away third in 1:57.6 over 2300 metres.

“He has been going well and we just threw him in at Menangle as we felt he could earn well,” Sutton said. “When he drew the weaker M0 I felt he had a good chance.

“It was a pearler of a drive from Leigh. He seems to get that little bit extra out of the horse as he’s got an affinity with him.

“He has come through the run well and we’re tossing up whether to back him up again next Saturday night or wait for the following week, but we will keep trying for another win at Menangle.”
