Now for the Inter Dominion

IN-FORM trotter Just Believe is unlikely to have another start before the Inter Dominion.

Speaking after the squaregaiter’s success in last night’s Bill Collins Sprint, trainer Jess Tubbs stated Just Believe “will most likely” be kept fresh before the time-honoured Championship.

Opening heats are scheduled to be conducted in Ballarat on November 26.

“I don’t think he will have another start before the Inter Dominion,” Tubbs said. “There are no significant races between now and then, so he probably won’t got around again before the heats.”

A revelation since joining Tubbs’ team, Just Believe has had four starts for a debut second and three wins, which include the Shepparton and Kilmore Trotters’ Cups.

As for his latest triumph, Just Believe simply outstayed his rivals in the Group One.

Driven by Tubbs’ husband, Greg Sugars, the son of Orlando Vici was settled in the ‘death seat’ from barrier four as Sundons Courage led from gate two.

Bullocking his way the front leaving the back straight, Just Believe showed a tremendous amount of intestinal fortitude to stave off a determined Ollivici to score by a half-head.

Queen Elida was four metres away third in 1:55.9 over 1720 metres.

“That was a terrific run,” Tubbs said. “He did all the work and just kept finding up the straight…I couldn’t have asked for more from him.”
