HARNESS Racing South Australia have advised the SA Harness Racing Club, that notwithstanding previous unproductive attempts to engage positively with the club to achieve substantive outcomes for the harness racing industry in SA, it has agreed to enter into formal mediation to resolve the many issues currently facing the club which emanate from its current, and historical poor financial performance.

While agreeing to engage in mediation in an attempt to achieve a positive outcome for the state’s harness racing industry, HRSA sees no utility into entering any mediation unless the mediation is all encompassing and addresses all the issues facing the club and its poor operating performance. These including:

    1. The implementation of the `Cunningham Report’
    2. Issues surrounding the sale of a large part of the Globe Derby Park complex.
    3. The current financial status of SAHRC
    4. SAHRC’s ability to promote the sport of harness racing at Globe Derby Park.

It is also HRSA’s position that if the club were to agree to HRSA’s terms of mediation, then both parties enter into a formal mediation before an experienced commercial mediator.

HRSA awaits SAHRC’s response to the requests made.
