AN OMINOUS warning has been issued to rivals in Saturday night’s Mr Feelgood Pace at Albion Park.
With recent New Zealand import Northview Hustler in the feature trainer Alistair Barnes intends on “making a statement”.
Unbeaten from three starts since crossing the Tasman, Northview Hustler is the $3.80 second elect with TAB Fixed Odds after drawing the middle of the back row.
As far as Barnes is concerned the son of Bettors Delight should be at the head of betting markets.
“He is a serious horse,” Barnes said. “Better than we expected.
“He has a tonne of ability and a big heart to go with it.
“I plan on being aggressive with him on Saturday and letting people know how good he is…we’ll be making a statement ahead of the Winter Carnival.”
Barnes also has handy performer Lincoln Road in the field, with the son of Lincoln Royal to begin from the outside of the front row.
“He is such a consistent type,” Barnes said. “He’ll need things to go his way, but he’s not out of it either.”
Lincoln Road was runner-up at his last start behind Colt Thirty One, which is the $1.65 TAB Fixed Odd favourite this weekend.
Trained by premier horseman Grant Dixon, Colt Thirty One has drawn barrier four but slots into three with the removal of the emergency.
The son of Mach Three has won nine of his 12 starts this term, with two placings also to his credit.
“Colt Thirty One is the one to beat,” Barnes said. “He’s a nice horse but will want to be at his top this week.”
