ANOTHER successful interstate trip appears to be on the cards for premier horsewoman Emma Stewart.
No stranger to capturing features during her border hopping trips, the Victorian trainer is aiming for a double in Port Pirie tomorrow night.
This time around Stewart will contest a pair of Finals, including the Group Three Alabar Golden Nursery.
“With a bit of luck we will have some success at Port Pirie,” Stewart said. “It’s never easy to win over there as it is extremely competitive.
“I think we’ve got the right horses to do it, but as we know in racing, it’s not that simple.”
To be driven by local reinsman Ken Rogers, Perfect Major will kick-start Stewart’s campaign when he take his position in the Three-Year-Old Final over 2050 metres.
Winner of his last two starts, the son of Art Major is a $1.50 favourite from the outside of the second row.
“He has come back from his freshen-up in great condition and will take a lot of beating,” Stewart said. “The draw has made it tough and there is plenty of form in the race.
“As long as he gets a good crack at them he will be hard to beat.”
Celebrity Chef is then expected to sizzle in the Golden Nursery after drawing to lead throughout from barrier three.
With Rogers to take the reins, the filly is a $1.40 favourite against the ‘boys’.
Unplaced upon debut, Celebrity Chef has won her two subsequent starts, including last month’s Fillies’ Classic at Globe Derby.
“She is unbeaten from her two starts in South Australia so it would be nice if she can complete the hat-trick,” Stewart said.
“She’s got the draw to keep that streak going and I’m pretty confident she will get the job done.”
