OUTSTANDING pacer Lennytheshark has been retired.
Connections made the decision to end his career yesterday while also announcing they are in negotiation with several studs to stand Lennytheshark as a sire next season.
A classy youngster, the son of Four Starzzz Shark developed into Australia’s premier pacer under the guidance of David Aiken, where he reached the pinnacle of racing by capturing the 2015 Inter Dominion.
Boasting 39 wins and 33 placings from 82 starts, Lennytheshark’s victories include seven Group Ones.
Affectionately-known as “Lenny”, the stallion bankrolled $3,007,585, making him the southern hemisphere’s sixth richest pacer.
“Dad (Kevin) and I are excited to confirm Lennytheshark has been retired to stud,” part-owner Martin Riseley said. “He’s got nothing else to prove and the timing is right to begin the next stage of his career.
“We can’t wait to see what Lenny can produce as a stallion on the back of his magnificent racing career…we hope everyone can experience what it’s like to own a shark!”
Successful in the Victoria Cup earlier this season, the eight-year-old has been retired with a last-start third at Tabcorp Park Melton a fortnight ago.
