POPULAR owner Pam Hockham has already made her birthday wish.
Set to celebrate her special milestone on Saturday, Hockham hopes her classy pacer Shadow Sax can capture another feature that night.
Successful in the Cranbourne Cup a fortnight ago, the Emma Stewart-trained gelding is again looking to add a Group Two to his growing collection.
Winner of eight of his 10 starts this season, Shadow Sax’s victories include the South Australia, Stawell and Geelong Cups, while also finishing third in the Ballarat Cup.
“It would be a lovely present on my birthday if he can win again,” Hockham said. “We’ll be there cheering him on as always, but it will add to my day if he can win.”
Hockham, who co-owns her team with her husband, Russell, had her prospects of some birthday silverware bolstered when Shadow Sax drew barrier four.
“That’s not too bad a draw,” Hockham said. “He led all-the-way in the Cranbourne Cup from four, so he’s capable of doing it again.
“Cranbourne was his first run in a month and he broke the track record. Emma said he’s been training on well since and will be fitter again this time around.
“He certainly gets his chance, now it’s a matter of how the race unfolds.”
