WELL-PERFORMED mare Pegasus Elegant is a strong chance of making her way back to the winners’ circle at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday night.
Recently registering a hat-trick at the world class venue, Pegasus Elegant had her sequence broken at her last start when unplaced from a 20-metre handicap a fortnight ago.
Returning to a mobile this weekend, the trotter will thrive under the conditions of The La Coocaracha according to trainer Blake Fitzpatrick.
Pegasus Elegant will begin from barrier two, with her main danger, Glenferrie Burn, to come from the pole.
With Fitzpatrick contesting the Australian Pacing Gold Final in Melton, Jack Trainor will partner the daughter of Pegasus Spur.
“She has drawn perfectly,” Fitzpatrick said. “She will enjoy the mobile start and racing over a mile.
“She’s feeling good at the moment and I’m sure she can run a good race.
“Glenferrie Burn comes up with good credentials and draw, which makes her the one to beat.”
Following her Group Three appearance Pegasus Elegant is likely to be aimed at next week’s Hammerhead Trotters’ Mobile at Menangle before heading south to tackle a TM0 in Melton.
“Hopefully she can win on Saturday night, which will also break her TM0,” Fitzpatrick said. “If that’s the case, I won’t necessarily head to Victoria with her.
“The Hammerhead is the next race for her, then if need be, a TM0 in Melton later in the month.”
