OUTSTANDING mare Our Dream About Me has run her last race.
No sooner had Our Dream About Me captured her 11th Group One than co-trainer Mark Purdon declared she will be retired.
Although she proved too good for her opponents in the Ladyship Mile at Tabcorp Park Menangle tonight, the six-year-old has “had enough” according to Purdon.
Purdon trains Our Dream About Me in partnership with Natalie Rasmussen.
“She did well, but I think she’s had enough,” Purdon said. “Although she won, she would have gone a lot better 12 months ago.
“She has had some tough racing and it’s time to retire her.
“She can go out as a last start Group One winner.”
Driven by Purdon, Our Dream About Me began quickly to lead from barrier two as Major Occasion worked at her wheel.
Striding clear during the latter stages the daughter of Bettors Delight completed a four-metre win from a gallant Major Occasion.
Bridget Blue Chip, which trailed the pacemaker, was a half-head away third in 1:50.1.
“The plan was always to lead from the draw,” Purdon said. “She went along quite well and it is a great way to finish her career.”
Our Dream About Me heads to the breeding barn with 25 wins and 13 placings from 43 starts for earnings of $1,375,085.
