AUSTRALIAN Pacing Gold eligible freshman Babyface Adda provided his owner with the ideal tonic at Pinjarra yesterday.

Raced by Harry Capararo, Babyface Adda captured the opening heat of the rich APG series in what trainer Ross Olivieri described the “perfect pick me up.”

“Harry is not well and this horse is giving him a bit of joy and lift in his spirits,” Olivieri said. “His win in an APG heat certainly put a smile on Harry’s face.”

Driven by Shannon Suvaljko, Babyface Adda led throughout from the pole to account for Shockwave and Sangue Reale in 1:56 over 1684 metres.

“I’m pretty pleased with him,” Olivieri said. “After last run I gave him a freshen up, so he was under done.

“Harry is keen to take him over to Melbourne for the APG Final, so that’s the plan.

“I will give him another run in a fortnight, which is halfway between now and heading to Melbourne for the Final.”

Earlier on the card Bettor Copagoodone proved too slick in the fillies’ heat for trainer Terry Ferguson.

With Nathan Turvey holding the reins, Bettor Copagoodone began quickly to lead from barrier three before being eased to take a trail behind Cap In Hand.

Angled away from the pegs at the top of the home straight, the daughter of Bettors Delight dashed to a two-metre win from Cap In Hand, with Delightful a neck away third.

Also owned by Ferguson, the two-year-old broke her maiden at her sixth start by rating 1:57.4.
