ANOTHER interstate campaign is on the cards for New South Wales horsewoman KerryAnn Morris.
Having enjoyed a highly-successful stint north of the border last September, Morris is planning further Queensland assaults.
During her previous raid Morris sent nine horses to the Sunshine State with her husband Robbie.
While the exact number of the next visit if yet to be determined, Morris’ candidates include Brocks Territory, Mustang Bart and Smokey Quartz.
The trio strengthened their prospects of a working holiday when triumphant at Tabcorp Park Menangle last night.
In fact, they captured the first three races on the card!
“I felt the first few races were our three main chances for the night and that’s how it turned out,” Morris said. “I was very happy with their performances as each went quite well.
“We’re weighing up the option of sending another team to Queensland to find the right races, and if we do, those three will be part of the team.”
Driven by Robbie, Brocks Territory got the ball rolling when he led throughout to account for The Announcer and The Democrat in 1:54.2.
“It got close at the end, but he got the job done,” Morris said. “The favourite (Franco Landry) going off stride at the start certainly helped his cause.”
Morris then provided the quinella in the following event, but was relegated to second behind the Robbie-driven Mustang Bart.
Causing a massive upset at $51, Mustang Bart scored from Bad Billy and The Bettormack in 1:54 over 2300 metres.
“We felt we had a good chance in that race, but with Bad Billy which was the favourite,” Morris said. “Mustang Bart went terrific and seems to be back to his best after winning his last two starts.”
Smokey Quartz rounded out the treble by rating 1:54.4 over 2300 metres with Robbie in the cart as Flaming Flutter and Vinny Chase filled the placings.
“Smokey Quartz’s run was very pleasing,” Morris said. “He is always competitive with the right run.
“Other than heading to Queensland he will just keep going around here to try and pick up a few more wins along the way.”
