Yole’s massive Launceston assault
IF YOUR driving towards Launceston on Sunday night keep an eye out for a convey of standardbreds.
With a massive team engaged at the meeting, premier trainer Ben Yole has a logistical nightmare transporting his runners to the venue.
Yole has 44 entrants ready to contest 10 races, meaning he will require four trucks and three floats to make his way from the stable to the track.
“It’s a huge team to be taking to the races,” Yole said. “It’ll mean all hands on deck as we’re in for a busy night.
“Hopefully we will be coming home with a truck load of winners.”
Yole’s assault stems from his bid to break the Tasmanian training record for the most wins in a season.

With three Tasmanian meetings remaining before the end of the term – including this weekend – Yole is looking to break Neville Webberley’s mantle for the most victories.
Webberley established his mark of 118 wins in 1990/91.
Should fortune favour Yole, he could also break Wayne Rattray’s record of 123 wins on the Apple Isle.
The difference between the two records is Webberley achieved the feat during a regular season, while Rattray’s was in 1988/89, which was a 13-month term.
Thanks to a treble last Sunday night, Yole’s tally is sitting on 115.
“We will be giving it a good shake,” Yole said. “It’s not something I gave a thought about at the start of the season, but now that we’re close to the record and the end of the season, it is what I’m aiming for.”
YOLES main chance in each race and his thoughts:
R1 – Prince Of Dawn: He is in good form and is probably one of my best chances for the night
R2 – Whenthegroundshook: She had no luck last start, but goes well and will be thereabouts
R3 – Pushkin: He is in good form and is ready to win
R4 – Jeans Mattjesty: He is also in good form, but it’s a very strong race
R5 – Another Swinger: The draw could be a bit tricky, but he should get good run through
R6 – Hooper Road: Went well to win last start and has worked on nicely
R7 – I’ve got three in that race and they will all need a lot of luck
R9 – Shadow Control: An each way shot
R10 – Out To Strike: Missed the start last time, but got home well…should go close
R11 – Jukebox Music, Im Young Tommy, Washies Chance: I can’t split them
