Gate speed could hold the key
DARREN MCCALL can get off to a flying start with Five Star Trump in today’s opening race for trotters at Tabcorp @ Club Menangle.
The seven-year-old gelding won by a margin of almost 15 metres in his previous race, earlier this month, at this track.
McCall can overcome the wide draw to take out the first in the nine-race card.
Soho Angel has been competing against some talented horses in Victoria in her past few races and with Luke McCarthy in the gig, she should be good enough to win the third race.
Mind The Wire can make it two straight wins at the Menangle circuit in race five for trainer Shane Sanderson.
Brendan Barnes takes the drive and will be aiming to use Mind The Wire’s good gate speed to lead all the way from his handy draw.
In the eighth race, Real Social has a great chance of backing up from Saturday’s winning performance.
Usually racing in Queensland, Real Social’s first appearance at Menangle a few days ago was a victorious one and it would be no surprise if he repeated the feat today with Lauren Tritton driving for trainer Stephen Bunz.
Our Mels Dream can go one better than last Tuesday’s runner-up placing behind Mind The Wire.
Todd McCarthy will drive Our Mels Dream for his father John in an open race which includes several chances.
The first race is scheduled to start at 1.26pm.
