IN-FORM pacer Always In Command is expected to continue his recent love affair with Redcliffe when he returns to the venue on Saturday night.
Having his last four starts at the track, Always In Command has proven too slick for his rivals on each occasion.
Thrilled with the gelding’s form, trainer Don Smith is positive Always In Command can repeat the dose during the weekend.
“He has become a very good buy,” Smith said. “He is exceeding expectations and each time I’ve asked him to step up he has.
“He’s looking great, feeling great and is a pleasure to train.
“With the way he is racing and he is feeling I can’t see any reason why he can’t keep the winning streak going a little longer.”
Adding to Smith’s confidence is the draw, with Always In Command predicted to settle forward from barrier five.
Nathan Dawson, who has driven the son of Always A Virgin during his last two starts, will once again take the reins.
“It is a typical band five full of horses which are even in the field,” Smith said. “Given how good he is going we will drive him positive and see what happens.
“He’s going to be very hard to beat.”
Hopeful the eight-year-old can make the transition to open company, Smith has set his sights on several features during summer beginning with the Be Good Johnny Sprint at Albion Park on December 7.
“There is a free-for-all on in a few weeks which I’d like to test him in,” Smith said. “We’re hoping he can measure up to some of the better races coming up.:”
