PROMISING youngster Hilltopsomewhere will continue her trek towards her first major target of the season when she heads to Globe Derby on Saturday night.

Successful at her last two starts – following a first-up second – Hilltopsomewhere is being primed for the South Australia Oaks on March 20.

The daughter of Somebeachsomewhere is then likely to be given a brief freshen up before trainer Peter Bain sets his sights on the rich Southern Cross series in July.

“I’ve mapped out a plan to have her where I want her to be come Oaks and Southern Cross time,” Bain said. “At this stage she is coming along really well and is right on schedule.

“Part of that plan was to slip in the trip to Mildura a couple of weeks ago to get her bonus early so we can concentrate on local races before the Oaks.

“I couldn’t be happier with the way she is working and racing.”

As for her pending assignment, Hilltopsomewhere will begin from barrier two, with Bain confident the filly can lead for top reinswoman Dani Hill.

“The plan will be to drop to the front,” Bain said. “There are not too many instructions to give Dani, but ultimately the front is where we want to be from favourable draw.

“She is going to be very hard to beat, especially if she does find the front.

“One of the good things about her is she will go off gate nicely, then settle, then find a gear when they come at her.”
