DESPITE all those warnings about losing being just around the corner, at least one punter won’t be putting his cue in the rack – not this week anyway.

One ‘lucky’ TAB customer turned a measly $5 into $43,972 on Sunday – at Launceston trots of all places.

This punter landed a four-leg multi at the Sunday twilight meeting on a day where most punters were licking their wounds after a shellacking at Randwick during a wet Saturday that proved a winner for the TAB and most bookmakers.

I Of The Hurrikane (Rohan Hillier) saluted in the first leg, Race 3, at $2.60.

Then the fun really started when Khaki Nui, driven by Brodie Davis won the next leg at $41 (started the race as an $8 shot).

Our punter was on song again two races later when Christian Jaz (Rohan Hillier) was the third leg winner at $5.50.

He must have been feeling pretty nervous by that stage but had no worries as Emjays Black Chip (Hillier) rounded out his multi at a cool $15 (started $6).

All four winners were trained by Michael Laugher.

It appeared to be a bold call fixing the runners on Saturday at those early ‘juicy’ odds,” explained the TAB’s Hamish Ferguson..

“But it ultimately paid off when Khaki Nui saluted at $41 and Emjays Black Chip hit the line a $15 winner.”
