PUNTERS expect Emma Stewart’s Alabar Vicbred Super Series dominance to continue at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday night.
After capturing 16 of the 22 heats across the three age brackets, Stewart has runners in each of the 12 semi-finals.
During last season’s corresponding meeting Stewart won eight of the 12 second round qualifiers.
Stewart’s haul also saw her smash a 77-year record for the most wins at a Victorian metropolitan meeting by becoming the first trainer to win more than five races on a city card.
Before the amazing result Stewart was one of eight ‘quintet trainers’, with T Butterworth the first to achieve the feat at Ascot on May 26, 1941.
With markets opening yesterday, TAB Fixed Odds have taken numerous sizeable wagers – all on Stewart-trained runners.
Despite his tough second row draw in a two-year-old semi, Mirragon has been well-supported, which has seen the son of Art Major tighten to $1.70.
Racing top form, Pistol Abbey has come in from $2.30 to $1.50 from the pole in her four-year-old mares’ event, while Major Times has dropped a similar margin to be $1.60 from barrier three in his four-year-old semi.
Opening as a $1.90 favourite hasn’t stopped some punters from backing quality three-year-old Hurricane Harley, which is into $1.75 from gate nine.
