PROMISING youngster Bubbles And Cheese made a successful racing return in Mount Gambier last night.
First-up since last August, the three-year-old led throughout to account for Eye See Double and Steam Cleaned, which is a stablemate of the winner.
Pleased with Bubbles And Cheese’s performance, trainer Bob Maloney has set his sights on an interstate trip with the filly.
“That was a really good effort and I’m very pleased with her,” Maloney said. “I am waiting on the program to see what is over the border to find a race for her.
“I rang the other day and they said it will be out in next two or three days. After I get that I will have a look for the right race to try and get her Vicbred bonus.
“After that I will see what else is around either in Victoria or at Globe Derby.”
With travel a major expedition from his Glencoe stable, Maloney revealed he is likely to transfer the daughter of Betterthancheddar back to astute trainer Bronte Giorgio.
Bubbles And Cheese captured the Group Two Southern Cross Final during her time with Giorgio last season.
“It takes about six hours to get to Globe Derby, so she will go back to Bronte at some stage,” Maloney said.
“I’m not sure when that will be but certainly by the time the Southern Cross comes around.”
