SUCH is the prowess of his sister, Wayne Hill was weary of her pending return weeks before it occurred.

Having moved to the top of the South Australian Drivers’ Premiership last June, overtaking Dani’s position as the leader, Hill enjoyed his moment on the throne while also noting the danger to come.

“Winning the premiership is something I would like to do at least once,” Hill declared. “But you can’t under estimate Dani.

“Dani could be back in a little over a month and still has six weeks left in the season.

“Given how good she is she can drive three winners a meeting and win the premiership.”

Since then Ken Rogers has taken over as premiership leader with the tally a fortnight ago sitting on 98 wins for Rogers to Hill’s 91 and Dani’s 82.

That’s when Dani made her return from being sidelined as a result of a horrific fall during the South Australia Derby at Globe Derby on February 9.

Two weeks later the premier table is Roger 101, Hill 96, Dani 92, with the Queen wasting little time in narrowing the gap as she aims to successfully defend her throne.

“I’m loving being back driving,” Dani said. “Getting winners is what it’s all about and I’m excited to be doing that, but I’m just thrilled to be in the sulky again.

“I don’t know if I can peg back the boys, but I’ll be trying my best.”

The battle between the trio continues at Globe Derby today, with Dani having a drive in each of the eight races while Rogers and Hill have seven engagements.

Dani appears to have the better ‘book’ of drives with four favourites, including $1.70 shot Robert Crocka in the opening event.

Wayne is set to partner one early market favourite – Rocknroll Legend – while Rogers’ chances are all well in the market as second and third elects.
