ROYCE GREGORY
Ready for title defence
October 25, 2017 Paul Courts

ALBURY-based horseman Royce Gregory-Jack hopes his successful association with the Indigenous Drivers’ Plate will continue on Sunday.
Turning the unique feature into his ‘pet project’ in recent years, Gregory-Jack will head to Tabcorp Park Menangle as the defending champion.
Scoring with Rave Moonraker last season, Gregory-Jack was also triumphant in 2012 and ’13 – giving him three wins from six editions of the event.
“I’ve had a bit of luck in the race and hopefully that will be the case on Sunday,” Gregory-Jack said. “I look forward to the race every year as it is always a bit of fun.”
To Gregory-Jack’s disappointment he has fared poorly in the draw, with his drive – Borninastorm – to begin from barrier eight.
A last-start winner at Newcastle a fortnight ago, Borninastorm is prepared by Brad Miles.
“I’m not going into it feeling very confident,” Gregory-Jack said. “He is not without a chance, but the draw makes it pretty tough.
“If we can get the right run we can play a role in the finish.”
