UNBEATEN freshman Resurgent Storm will take a step towards emulating one of his sibling’s feats when he competes in Hobart on Friday night.
Winner of his two starts for trainer Roger Whitmore, Resurgent Storm is engaged in a heat of the Tasracing Dandy Patch Series.
By Betterthancheddar from Resurgent Star, the colt is a half-brother to former outstanding youngster, Resurgent Spirit, which was undefeated from nine two-year-old appearances.
Resurgent Spirit’s victories include his heat and Final of the Dandy Patch.
“I think he can match his half-brother by winning the heat and Final,” Whitmore said. “He hasn’t been fully wound up because I don’t do that if there is no need to, but I will wind him up for this series.
“He has certainly improved since his couple of starts and will definitely be better again in a fortnight.”
As for his upcoming assignment, Resurgent Storm is a short-priced favourite against four opponents, which includes three debutants.
Resurgent Storm has drawn the widest in barrier five.
“A couple of the first starters have looked all right in the trials and are likely to be horses which will improve,” Whitmore said.
“That said, they will have to improve if they are to have a chance of winning.
“Resurgent Star is progressing nicely and has all the makings of a very nice horse.”
