Speedy pacer races into record books

SPEEDY performer Anything For Love forged his way into the record books with his upset victory at Tabcorp Park Menangle just moments ago.
Leading throughout in his Miracle Mile heat, Anything For Love stopped the clock in a quick 1:48.7.
As such, the Lauren and Shane Tritton-trained son of Rock N Roll Heaven became the fastest Australian-bred pacer.
Anything For Love slashed half a second from Lennytheshark’s Aussie-based record, while also slicing three-tenths of a second from Drumfire’s international mark.
Drumfire established his time in Philadelphia in August 2012.
Driven by Lauren, Anything For Love dashed to the lead from barrier three before staving off a determined Soho Tribeca by a short half-head, with Charlaval four metres away third.
“I knew he was capable of running that time, it was just a matter of whether the others were going to be faster,” Shane said. “Before the race we were looking for the lead, and once in front, he was going to run along.
“As it turned out, he was quick enough on the night and now he’s into next week’s Miracle Mile.”
Fellow locally-trained campaigner Tiger Tara also caused a minor upset when scoring from My Field Marshal and raging favourite, Lazarus, in his heat.
Prepared by Kevin Pizzuto and driven by Todd McCarthy, the stallion covered the mile 1:51.5.
