Start the night with a ‘rockin’ win

RACE ONE:
Following another competitive display against similar opposition a week ago, LETS GET ROCKIN (5) is poised to again make a bold play for the major share of the prizemoney. Since greeting the judge five starts back, the Michael Doltoff-trained son of Mach Three has been placed in four subsequent starts, beaten 4.3m or less. That particular margin was recorded a week ago when Lets Get Rockin finished strongly from a rearward role in grabbing third spit behind Yianni and Pump The Brakes, with that particular duo again joining him at the start. The handy draw should enable Lets Get Rockin to make a play closer to the lead and that will be a plus in what looks to be another open contest. Now that YIANNI (8) has again found where the winning post is situated, following a run of minor placings, the Jack Trainor-prepared son of Changeover should be rated as a major threat. Contesting his first run for Jack, following a stint with Jason Grimson, Yianni enjoyed a kind run throughout before hitting the line with intent. Reserve out and the 5yo will again launch his claim from gate seven, ensuring he has the chance to secure a similar, suitable run from the outset. MAJOR JELLIS (10) returns from a creditable Queensland campaign, culminating in a 13.5m 5th behind Aphorism at AP a week ago. The 5yo son of Art Major collected two wins while north of the border, and although a wide gate will welcome the Belinda McCarthy-trained gelding, he is entitled to be included in the main bracket of chances. As always, the Sean Grayling trained and driven PUMP THE BRAKES (9) will be in the mix when the calls a halt to proceedings. Runner-up in four of his past five starts, the 8yo is deserving of a change of luck. SUMMIT SPECIAL (11) was again finding the late, but all too late once again, when a 15.7m 3rd to Chevron Art last week. The 7yo son of Mr Feelgood has again drawn deep and will drop out before charging home. The gelding does have the talent to greet the judge so don’t write him off. Exotic players should also take into account THE IDEAL DANCER (2), JAZZY STAR (4) and CHEVRON ART (6).
LETS GET ROCKIN 1, Yianni 2, Major Jellis 3, Pump The Brakes 4.
RACE TWO:
The Belinda McCarthy-conditioned KINGMAKER (1) has the chance to reign over his subjects after drawing ideally in gate one. Contesting his first assignment since a disappointing 22.5m 7th to Stingray Tara at Headquarters back in late March, the Mach Three gelding led when a creditable 6.4m 5th to Bozhavtime at this venue a week ago. After creating a big impression with five-straight wins after arriving from NZ, Kingmaker has managed just the one win from his past six starts, but he is capable of giving this a big shake with that run under his belt. SMOOTH OVERARM (5) drew the outside gate last week, which resulted in his trainer Amanda Turnbull taking him back at the start, with a five peg role eventually coming his way. held up for a run at a vital stage, Smooth Overarm posted a creditable 7.5m 5th to Holy Camp Dillon. With solid form to his credit before that outing, Smooth Overarm is more than capable of being far more active in the finish so respect his claims in this suitable assignment. BENALONG VALLEY (6) has been runner-up in three of his past five, with his latest outing a week ago resulting in a grinding 9.5m 5th to Boom last week. A slightly better draw will await the Trevor Munday-trained son of Shadow Play so expect to see him being thereabouts when the judge calls a halt. LITTLE BLISS (7) is racing in career best form and although the Troy Williams-trained mare is creeping up in grade, the 5yo daughter of Art Major is bound to make her presence felt. CHECK IN (8) and WATCHMEDAZZLE (9) have both drawn wide but don’t discard then when it comes to multiple transaction while GLENAVRIL KING (2) will appreciate gate two and that will assist the son of Courage Under Fire so expect a better showing, compared to his effort a week ago when last behind Fynn Frost.
KINGMAKER 1, Smooth Overarm 2, Benalong Valley 3, Little Bliss 4.
RACE THREE:
SURFERS DELIGHT (1) has had numerous chances of late, but the Roy Roots Jnr-trained son of Bettors Delight keeps making a case for another chance, especially when he draws well, which is this case for this particular assignment. The talented 4yo finished a 49.8m last to Yianni a week ago, however, the Surfers Delight struck interference and the run should be forgotten when assessing his claims this time around. Prior to that run and Surfers Delight had posted a hat-trick of solid placings and with the draw bound to present him with every chance to enjoy a kind run. In a race of many chances, Surfers Delight should prove hard to beat. ARDENS ACE (2) has also been consistent of late, courtesy of three placings from his past four, with an unlucky 4m 7th to Scorcha also a sound pointer for a race of this nature. Prepared by Tony Bertwistle and to be driven by the in-form Darren Binskin, the son of Art Major is coming off a solid 3.9m 3rd behind Ardens Reality and Unfazed a week ago, with either one of those pacers more than capable of taking this out. Ardens Ace will also appreciate his good draw. It has been hard to follow WOW HES A ROCK STAR (6) of late but he stays in the mix as there is no doubting his talent. A dominant winner here four starts ago, the Blake Fitzpatrick trained and driven 4yo has been placed just once in three starts since, with his latest outing resulting in a moderate 23.6m last to Nerano. However, on hyis night and the son of Rock N Roll Heaven could easily ‘blow’ this field away so don’t ignore him as a threat. EVERYBODYLOVEDRAY (10) has drawn deep but that won’t be a major factor as the David Thorn-trained usually drops out anyway. Since scoring here five starts ago, Everybodylovedray hasn’t finished closer than 6th, and that was a couple of weeks ago when he had little luck from a five peg role, which resulted in a fast-finishing 3m effort behind Scorcha. The 7yo stays under notice as a threat while multiple combinations should include ROCK FISHERMAN (3), JIMMYJOE (4), LOUIS LITT (8), which has a case to argue for a role after a creditable 9m 4th to Fynn Frost a week ago, and TINDER SURPRISE (11).
SURFERS DELIGHT 1, Ardens Ace 2, Wow Hes A Rock Star 3, Everybodylovedray 4.
RACE FOUR:
Outstanding filly STENO (5) returns from a gallant Queensland campaign, which resulted in the daughter of Sweet Lou finishing third in each of her two encounters. Following a 1.5m effort behind Racy Roxy in the G3 South East Oaks, when she attempted to dictate from start to finish, the 3yo again attempted to lead from the green light been activated, right up to the moment the judge called a halt when a game 4.8m 3rd to Soho Historia in the G1 Queensland Oaks at AP. Trainer Cameron Ross has done a wonderful job with the filly and she has obviously taken no harm from her latest outing and the trip home. Handily drawn in four, and that is with the reserve missing, Steno will have the chance to be in the firing line from the outset, with Jack Callaghan having the option to hold or take cover as the filly will be confronted by older rivals. With Steno now having two runs under her belt since a spell, she will attack this race with a higher level of fitness. Boasting four-consecutive wins, ORCHID STRIDE (6) is bound to ensure that Steno will need to be at her best if she is to chalk up the eighth win of her career. Prepared by Jack Trainor, who will also takes the reins, the American Ideal mare has led in winning her past few, the latest when she accounted for Mammals Riddle and Dhaulagiri at Newcastle, with the latter winning in fine fashion since. From the middle of the line, Jack is bound to make a play for the lead role once again. Trainor will also be represented by the talented, but hard to follow, B K SWY (10), which returns from a trip to Queensland. After posting a solid metre 2nd to Fairy Tinkabell in the G3 Stylish Memphis on June 25, B K Swy headed north with her only outing resulting in a 13.3m 9th to Maajida in the Fleur De Lil Ladyship. The wide draw won’t be a major issue for the daughter of Big Jim as she is likely to go back and be saved for one shot at the prize. BE MY ROSE (11) didn’t do a great deal when resuming a couple of weeks ago, with the outing resulting in a 13m 7th to Wainui Creek. Fitter for that outing, Be My Rose should be included in exotic investments, along with SOVIET STUNNER (1), WHATS YOUR SECRET (7), IM DESIRABLE (8) and HEAVENLY HOLLY (9).
STRENO 1, Orchid Stride 2, B K Swy 3, Be My Rose 4.
RACE FIVE:
it is hard to go past WOLF STRIDE (7) as the one to beat following his stylish win against similar opposition a couple of weeks ago. Contesting just his second assignment since a spell, the classy son of Rock N Roll Heaven led from shortly after the start in proving far too good for Jimmy Locke and Atomic Red. With the benefit of two runs since a nine month break, the 6yo will take a higher level of fitness into this contest. Reserve out and Wolf Stride will launch his claim from gate six, but there is a few speedy customers drawn inside. However, taking a sit and allowing Wolf Stride to dictate would appear to be the best option. Although never a threat last week when a 16.5m 5th to
WOLF STRIDE

Whereyabinboppin, JIMMY LOCKE (9) is bound to be more prominent when the judge calls a halt. Starting favourite, courtesy of recent outstanding displays, the 7yo was always well back and failed to make an impression on the winner, which kept his rivals busy chasing from the outset. Expect the 7yo to be closer to the action when the final 360m comes into play. Quality mare WAINUI CREEK (10) has won both her starts since a spell in fine fashion, the latter when she led in defeating Heavenly Holly and Im Desirable a couple of weeks ago. The Paul Fitzpatrick-trained 6yo will strip fitter for this assignment, and although the challenge will be more demanding, the daughter of Bettors Delight is capable of being involved in the finish. BUNDORAN (11) resumed from his 5th to King Of Swing in the Miracle Mile, with a pleasing 1.3m 3rd to Zeuss Bromac on June 255. However, the 5yo has been safely held in each of his past two encounters, the latter resulting in a 17.3m 7th to Whereyabinboppin a week ago when he was unable to work his way into the contest from well-back in the pack. Fitness is no longer an issue for the talented son of Lincoln Royal so expect a far better showing. WHEREYABINBOPPIN (8) gave nothing else a chance last week in scoring and he should be included in multiple transactions while ASHARK (4) and HES CHIMING (5) also remain in the multiple mix.

WOLF STRIDE 1, Jimmy Locke 2, Wainui Creek 3, Bundoran 4.
RACE SIX:
With the benefit of two runs back from a short break and, an ideal draw, the Ash Hart-trained DEFIANT (2) is poised to give the newcomer to the training ranks, her first trip to the winner’s circle. Formerly prepared by her uncle Trevor White, the talented son of Roll With Joe was transferred to Ash after his success in the G1 Regional State Final at Menangle on May 28, with Lets Get Rock In and Lyrical Genius filling the minors. With Ash in the sulky, Defiant resumed on July 9 with a pleasing 11.3m 5th to One Two Many, with the outside draw giving him little joy. The 4yo drew better for his next assignment, which was a week ago, when he managed to secure the one-one, courtesy of Jack Trainor. Grinding away gamely down the running, Defiant was edged out of the top spot by Boyzhavtime, but the run lifted his level of fitness to where it should be for this challenge. This time around Ash will hand the reins over to her brother Cam, who will be looking to combine for an important win for the siblings. Confident that Defiant would be prominent from the outset, Cam stated that the gelding would be given the opportunity to dictate the terms and that would result in Defiant taking a power of beating. FYNN FROST (6) was impressive scoring first-up for Peter Russo when he accounted for Rock Of Delight and Jimmyjoe. The former Victorian has the same starting role, gate five, and with the prospect of being in the mix from the outset, the 7yo son of Always A Virgin is bound to make his presence felt. BOOM (7) has been most impressive since joining the Dean Cernovskis team, with the pair combining for three wins from just five starts. Displaying plenty of character once again, the 5yo son of Alta Christiano led in fighting back strongly to defeat Spirit Of Anzac and Faze Of Glory last week. Cernovskis will no doubt be keen to have Boom prominently placed from the outset, if not, dictating the terms. HOLY CAMP DILLON (8) continues to perform at a consistent level and the son of For a Reason will be in for the fight once again so don’t write him off. When it comes to exotic transactions the reliable ROCK OF DELIGHT (11), despite the wide gate, must be included while UNFAZED (4), SPIRIT OF ANZAC (3) and ARDENS REALITY (5), which was an impressive heat winner, all have claims in that regard.
DEFIANT 1, Fynn Frost 2, Boom 3, Holy Camp Dillon 4.
RACE SEVEN:
Bathurst Gold Crown runner-up NATURALLY GIFTED (6) will face the starter as the one to beat, despite being off the scene since his quality effort in the G1 event at Bathurst back on March 22. Gaining entry into the race after recording an impressive heat win, the Wayne Dimech-prepared son of Sweet Lou hit the line strongly in the feature event, coming from a three peg role in posting a 5.8m 2nd to Tardelli. In readiness for his return, the 2yo has won a Penrith trial in fine fashion, indicating that he was ready to tackle his first assignment back with plenty of confidence. Cam Hart, who has been in the sulky for his past two starts, will again take the reins. With only six other runners, drawing out in six shouldn’t be a concern. Looming as a definite threat is BLAZING HOME (7) as the David Kennedy-trained youngster has race fitness assisting his claims on greeting the judge. Unbeaten in three starts, twice at Wagga, either wide of a solid all-the-way win at Cobram on July 11. The son of Rock N Roll Heaven has led in two of those wins, with his latest victory coming via a solid finishing display from the one-one. In-form reinsman Jackson Painting will again partner the 2yo, with the outside gate awaiting them. SHANTILLY (5) opened his career with comfortable wins at Menangle and Newcastle before breaking and having little luck in finishing a distant 7th to Petracca in a heat of the Bathurst Gold Crown. Trainer-driver Brian Portelli has given the youngster three trials, the latest resulting in a big win at Penrith. The Sweet Lou youngster is bound to be ready to make a bold bid for victory. Of the remaining runners FIREFLY (4), KINGOFGLITTER (1) and POSH FELLA (3) stay in the mix as exotic players.
NATURALLY GIFTED 1, Blazing Home 2, Shantilly 3, Firefly 4.
RACE EIGHT:
The bulk of the runners went around on Tuesday, with the short-priced favourite on that occasion, PRINCESS FAITH (4), posting a costly 4.5m 2nd behind One Majic Kenny. Folowing an impressive hat-trick of wins, all at Headquarters, the mare was expected to extend her winning sequence, however, after a ‘dip’ for the lead, then securing the one-one, Princess Faith was unable to make up the necessary ground down the lengthy Menangle straight. Suitably drawn in three, which is minus the reserve, Princess Faith will have the opportunity to square the ledger with punters. GUS AND MAORI (9) was off a 10m hcp when a grinding 7.4m 3rd behind Sunny Gee and One Majic Kenny last time out. The veteran son of Angus Hall will appreciate these conditions and as a result, the Sofia Arvidsson trained and driven 10yo should make a bold play for the top spot. ROYAL GLENFERRIE (6) is always thereabouts, which was the case on Tuesday when a 13.2m 3rd behind One Majic Kenny. The 6yo should be in the mix from the outset, and although he doesn’t win out of turn, this type of contest is well within his reach. ONE MAJIC KENNY (8) has been mixing his form since a spell, and racing below his best on a few occasions, but the 5yo bounced back to winning form with a solid all-the-way display on Tuesday. The Blake Fitzpatrick trained and driven 5yo has drawn a few spots wider but he is capable of going back-to-back now that he has found his confidence once again. SUNNY GEE (10) is coming off a solid win and remains in contention, despite the wide gate, while ALDEBARAN URSULA (7) has done enough of late to warrant attention when forming multiple transactions.
PRINCESS FAITH 1, Gus An Maori 2, Royal Glenferrie 3, One Majic Kenny 4.
RACE NINE:
The last is overflowing with winning chances, with the consistent Grant Fuller-trained OUR MONEY ROCKS (3) worthy of attention after drawing suitably in three. Since greeting the judge back in December/2021, Our Money Rocks has faced the starter on a further 14 occasions, but has managed just a mere three minor placings. However, along the way the 5yo has been competitive on a number of occasions in recording more than useful displays. His most recent placing was two starts back when a 7.6m 3rd to Doubtless Bay, which has won since. When last produced the son of A Rocknroll Dance found some trouble when a closing 2.4m 4th to Scorcha at this venue a couple of weeks ago. Jack Trainor has been booked to handle the driving duties and with a good draw being a vital plus, Our Money Rocks has the chance to record a deserving win. MARTY MAJOR (2) has managed just one placing from his past 13 trips to the races, but like so many of these runners, he has been handy in some better class races. The 9yo attempted to lead throughout when a creditable 7m 6th behind Ardens Reality last week, and with a slightly more comfortable challenge awaiting him, Marty Major should give a bold showing. FOREVER YIN (6) has been placed seventh in each of his past three, the latest when beaten 12m in the race won by Boom a week ago. The 5yo hasn’t had a great deal go his way of late so don’t ignore him as a winning player. HANDS ON (7) has been mixing his form but the 4yo is likely to find this to be a suitable assignment. RICKOSHAY (8) ended his previous term of racing with four disappointing efforts, but the 4yo has trialled well for his return and it wouldn’t surprise to see him return with a competitive effort. Exotic players should also consider THE CHOREOGRAPHER (4) and MACH DADDY (10) when forming investments.
OUR MONEY ROCKS 1, Marty Major 2, Forever Yin 3, Hands On 4.
