RISING star Scooterwillrev has a stranglehold on tomorrow night’s Tasmania Cup heat in Hobart.

Runner-up at his last three starts – albeit from tough barriers and large handicaps, Scooterwillrev has drawn to lead throughout from two.

Adding to the gelding’s grip on the qualifier is the fact his main danger, Harjeet, has to give him a substantial head start.

Harjeet is the sole back marker from a 30-metre handicap.

Pleased with Scooterwillrev’s form, trainer Craig Hayes is oozing confidence with the son of Somebeachsomewhere.

“I couldn’t be happier with him going into this,” Hayes said. “He’s been beaten at his last few starts, but I can’t see that happening this week.

“The winners’ circle is where I expect him to be going.”

Along with Harjeet as “the obvious threat”, Hayes rates Illegal Immigrant as a danger to his multiple feature race winning gelding.

Successful at two of his last three outings, Illegal Immigrant is set to start from two on the 10-metre line.

“The obvious threat remains Harjeet despite the obstacles he is facing,” Hayes said. “Along with a 30-metre handicap he has to get around a big field.

“Illegal Immigrant is a nice horse in good form and will be right in the finish.”
