Student by day, star driver by night
TAKING time out from her studies, Taylah Osmond registered a personal milestone last night.
Making a regular trip to Canberra, Osmond notched her first double.
Driving in strong form, the Year 12 student has four wins, a third and a pair of fourths from her last eight starts.
Naturally thrilled with the occasion, Osmond stated the timing of her achievement made the occasion “10 times better”.
Like every reinswomen throughout Australia and New Zealand, Osmond is sporting specially-designed driving pants as a participant of the Teal Pants Campaign.
Between February 1 and March 15 the leading ladies wear teal pants as part of the extraordinary crusade to raise crucial funding and valuable awareness towards ovarian cancer research and education.
Each state’s governing body, various principal clubs and the TAB have combined to donate $400 per victory to WomenCan.
Western Australia has taken a different approach and is donated $15,000.
“I was so excited to get my first double,” Osmond said. “I felt both had a good chance and for them to win is amazing.
“The fact that it is during teal pants time makes it 10 times better!
“Hopefully I can get some more wins before the teal pants campaign is finished.”
Osmond opened her account when Pass The Baton completed a successful debut over 1770 metres.
After trailing the leader, Pass The Baton gained a saloon passage along the inside to score by short half-head from Justrollingaround.
In a ‘blanket’ finish, Lovely Lily was a head away third in 2:02.7.
Osmond was then triumphant with Eratigena which rated 2:07.8 over 1770 metres as Critical Advantage and Aorangi filled the placings.
“Both only just got there, but I’m so happy they did,” Osmond said.
