Superstar to miss $1million Miracle Mile

DISAPPOINTED with the timing, but conscious of his star’s wellbeing, David Moran has made the tough call to miss the Miracle Mile with Lochinvar Art.

Referring to the stallion as a “tired horse”, Moran has made it clear Lochinvar Art’s best interests come before chasing glory in the $1million Garrards-sponsored sprint, which is scheduled to be run at Club Menangle March 5.

As such the millionaire will spend at least “three weeks” in a paddock before being readied for Queensland’s popular Winter Carnival in July.

Third in the 2020 Miracle Mile, Lochinvar Art missed last season’s edition through injury which sidelined the son of Modern Art for 11 months.

During that time Lochinvar Art served a respected book of mares.

“He is just not himself and is looking for a spell,” Moran said. “He’s only had three runs since making his comeback, but he did have a long preparation as well.

“After seeing him laying down in his yard the other day I knew he was a tired horse and felt it was best to give him time to freshen up.

“He’s been too good to us to do anything other than what is best for him.

“I’ll give him three weeks off then slowly bring him up for Queensland’s main races in the middle of the year.”
