Surpassing racing feats in the breeding barn
FORMER outstanding pacer Tiger Tara appears destined to surpass his racing feats as a sire.
Possessing tremendous speed and a seemingly endless supply of stamina, Tiger Tara won the admiration of enthusiasts throughout Australasia as he notched 37 victories and 40 placings for a bankroll of $2,375,065,
Those qualities carried Tiger Tara to glory in seven Group Ones, including the Holy Grail of harness racing – the Inter Dominion.
Tiger Tara was also triumphant in the time honoured A G Hunter and Victoria Cups, with his credits including Grand Circuit Champion and Australian Horse of the Year.
Thanks to his champion traits Tiger Tara has become popular in the second stage of his life as a stallion, with his early results worth noting.
Siring three foals while mixing racing with stud duties for trainer Kevin Pizzuto, Tiger Tara boasts a perfect record thanks to Tiger Tee’s success at Club Menangle today.
Showing her share of ability, but let down on occasion by her manners, Tiger Tee completed her maiden voyage to the winners’ circle at her 11th start.
Driven by Joshua Gallagher, Tiger Tee began quickly to lead from barrier four as Leaf Stride worked on her outside.
With the pair refusing to be beaten, Tiger Tee and Leaf Stride dead-heated in 1:58.3 over a mile.
In what was a ‘blanket finish’, Love You Girl was a half-head away third, with Jungle Eyes a half-neck away fourth!
“The ability has been there all along, it’s just her manners have let her down through inexperience,” Pizzuto said.
“She was runner-up at her two previous starts and her work has been a lot better, so I knew it was just a matter of time before she won.
“I guess it’s only a half win today, but I’ve got no doubt she get put a few more wins on the board.”
