NEXT month’s Tasmania Cup remains at the top of Harjeet’s hit list following his victory in Hobart last night.

Winner of his last three starts, Harjeet was too powerful for his rivals in the club’s Pacing Cup prompting trainer Todd Rattray to continue his plans for the state’s main event.

The $75,000 feature is scheduled to be conducted in Hobart on March 16.

“There is a free-for-all next weekend which I may put him in, but other than that, I will play it by ear,” Rattray said. “The Tasmania Cup is what I am working him towards at this stage.

“He also has his East Cup defence coming up but that will depend on the handicaps.”

On the subject of handicaps, Harjeet could find himself in New South Wales with Rattray’s brother James before the end of the season according to leading horseman.

“He’s an M3 now, so the handicaps are only going to get tougher here to the point he will be handicapped out of the races,” Rattray explained.

“When that happens he will end up with James in New South Wales.”

As for his latest win, Harjeet overcame the outside of the second row to score by five-and-a-half metres from Isaac, with No Spring Secrets 10-and-a-half metres away third.

Owned by the Rattray Family Trust, the son of Rocknroll Hanover extended his record to 15 wins and five placings from 22 starts by rating 1:59.3 over 2579 metres.

“He went really well but he did switch off halfway up the straight so I would have preferred he hit the line a little harder,” Rattray said.

“He is a real big horse which I don’t work too hard, so I may have taken it a bit too easy on him between runs.

“That said, he will be better next start that’s for sure.”
