AN AXIOUS 24 hours awaits connections of Victoria’s top ranked Inter Dominion contender Shadow Sax.
Following the gelding’s unplaced effort in the second heat at Tabcorp Park Melton tonight, Harness Racing Victoria stewards have stood Shadow Sax down pending a veterinary inspection.
Although Shadow Sax was only beaten five-and-a-half metres after starting from the second row, the Emma Stewart-trained pacer was found to be “lame in his near hind leg”.
The son of Shadow Play must be given the ‘all clear’ by a vet before taking his position in Tuesday night’s second round at Ballarat.
Should Shadow Sax be permitted to continue his quest for the industry’s “Holy Grail’, he faces another tough challenge after drawing the barrier seven – the outside of the front row.
