RESPECTED trainer Gary Hill has praised Harness Racing South Australia following Solarsonic’s victory at Globe Derby tonight.
Continuing his sensational form since arriving at Hill’s stable, Solarsonic captured the Claiming Series Final which was added to the racing calendar by the governing body in early September.
As such, several trainers – including Hill – purchased pacers to compete in the series just as HRSA predicted.
“I was a terrific series HRSA put on,” Hill said. “We don’t get many Finals with that prizemoney here, so it was great for the sport.
“Wayne (Hill, son) found this horse for us and he’s turned out to be a super buy.
“Hopefully there will be more series like this one as I’m sure people will looking for the right horses to race in it.”
With Wayne in the cart, Solarsonic began brilliantly to lead from barrier six, which Hill believes was catalyst for the win.
“Wayne got out of the gate well…that was the winning move,” Hill said. “From that point he was never going to be beaten.”
Never seriously challenged, Solarsonic cruised to a soft seven-and-a-half metre win from Julius Franco, with Futurist a nose away third.
“He’s a lovely horse which has done a terrific job since he got here,” Hill said. “He did it very easily again tonight.
“I haven’t looked beyond this series with him, so I don’t really know what’s next.
“I’ll search through the program and find the right race.”
Rating 2:0.4 over 2230 metres, the son of Village Jasper has won three of his four starts for Hill, with a second also to his credit.
