IT’S fair to say the line-up of squaregaiters in New South Wales is probably as strong as it has ever been.

For that reason, a lot of trainers will be thrilled with this week’s news that Club Menangle is introducing two new feature series for the trotters in the premier state for the second half of 2023.

Thanks to the support of the NSW Trotters’ Association, Club Menangle is bring back the Trotters Carousel, a perfect adjunct to the Carousel series for the pacers.

Heats of the Trotters Carousel will be run at Menangle on Tuesday, September 12.

And that will lead into a $25,000 Final on Carousel night, which is Saturday, September 23.

The series will be restricted to trotters with a National Rating of up to 75, with no concessions.

    But wait, there’s more.

There’s also the introduction of a new two-year-old Trotters Spring/Summer Series similar to the NSW Foundation series.

To be named the Arizona Blue, this series will be contested through November and December.

Heats will be held on Tuesday, November 14 (at Menangle) as well as Monday, November 27 at Goulburn and Tuesday, December 5 at Menangle with a $25,000 Final to be run on Saturday night, December 16 at Australasiaá premier harness racing circuit, Tabcorp Park Menangle.

“We’ve got some keenly-contested square-gaiting races each week at Menangle at the moment,” said Club Menangle Racing Manager David Wonson.

“The addition of these races to our programs just adds to the attraction of racing and having a trotter, or two or three, in the stables as there are some lucrative races coming up for them.”
