Victorian raider chasing more interstate riches

FRESH from capturing another feature at Club Menangle last night, Victorian horseman Adam Kelly will be back at the world class venue chasing more glory tomorrow.

No stranger to securing key events around the 1400-metre circuit, Kelly was triumphant in the Tatlow Stake with exciting freshman Showmethetanlines, which blitzed his rivals.

Driven by Bailey McDonough, the colt cruised to an 17-and-a-half metre win from Uptown Chance, with Lexy two metres away third.

First-up from a five-month spell, Showmethetanlines covered the mile in a slick 1:51.5, taking his record to three wins and a third from four starts.

Earlier this season the son of Downbytheseaside outclassed his opposition in the Group Three Sapling Stake in 1:52.2.

“I’ve got a reasonable opinion of him,” Kelly said. “It is a shame he missed The Protostar slot race in Brisbane in July, but he was definitely below his best, so I turned him out for three months.

“He has come back a better horse and was terrific last night.

“Everything being as it is, I expect big things from him moving forward.”

As for his next Menangle starter, Kelly will be represented by debutante Kiss Me Mini.

Also to be partnered by McDonough, Kiss Me Mini has drawn to begin her career on a perfect note from the pole.

The daughter of Always B Miki has had two eye-catching trials at Menangle during the past fortnight.

“She goes along quite well,” Kelly said. “I’ve been happy with everything she’s done on the training track, now it’s time to hope she takes that to the races.

“She’s only a three-year-old, which is still learning, but I expect a big run from her.”

Local filly Complete Stranger shapes as the one to beat for in-form horseman Blake Fitzpatrick.

Runner-up against similar company last week, Complete Stranger has drawn barrier four.

Elsewhere on the card, Fitzpatrick has Oria chasing a hat-trick, having won her last two outings at Menangle and Goulburn.

Fitzpatrick’s daughter, Zara, will drive the pair.
