A FILLY by leading American juvenile sire Stay Hungry from a half-sister to the sensational New Zealand racemare Millwood Tilly is expected to be keenly sought by buyers at the Australian Pacing Gold Sale at the Magic Millions, Gold Coast on Sunday, January 28.

One of a four-prong entry from Pete and Chantal McMullen’s Somerset Farms, the bay filly is Lot 56 in the catalogue.

She is the first foal of the six-time Albion Park winner Millwood Tilly NZ (1:55.8), whose sibling, Millwood Nike, is undefeated in 17 starts including six at Group One level and has banked $690,932.

“She’s a lovely filly. An athletic type with a lovely temperament,” Pete said.

Somerset Farms, which sold the second highest priced lot at last year’s sale, is also offering three colts at the sale.

Lot 73, a Sweet Lou colt from the family of Courage Under Fire, Stylish Memphis and Jesse Duke, is clearly the pick of the bunch.

“He’s a real standout. He’s flashy colt with all the bling,” Pete said.

Lot 42, a big, strong Always B Miki colt, has a wealth of breeding on his dam’s side, being out of the NZ Sires Stakes Two-Year-Old Championship winner Joannes A Delight 1:55.4 ($203,135), a sister to the millionaire pacer Jacks A Legend (1:47.4).

Completing the Somerset Farms’ draft is a Stay Hungry colt from the Presidential Ball mare Magenta Rose (Lot 50), a member of the Miss

Paula tribe which has been responsible for horses the calibre of Frith, Mcraes Mate, Albert Kelly and so on.

“He’s a neat, correct colt who looks like he will get up and go early,” Pete stated.
