WHOEVER coined the term ‘history never repeats’ didn’t have Tasmania’s two main premierships in mind.
Successfully retaining their titles, Todd Rattray and Ben Yole finished the season with the same amount of wins as the year before.
Rattray won 87 races to be Tassie’s leading driver, while Yole notched 124 wins as a trainer.
Yole’s tally equals the state training record he registered in 2016/17.
Pleased with his crowning, Rattray hopes to improve his numbers this term.
“It’s really nice to pick up another premiership,” Rattray said. “It’s a good piece of recognition at the end of the season.
“I broke my arm and had six weeks off during the season, so that cost me a few wins.
“I wouldn’t mind having a good, solid crack at 100 wins, so it’s something I will aim for this time around.”
Winner of the past three premierships, Yole went into last night’s Hobart meeting requiring four winners to better his record.
He finished the evening with a treble and three seconds.
“It wasn’t to be, but I’m rapt with the season we’ve had,” Yole said.
