LOOK out Katrina Fitzpatrick, you may have a rival.

Renowned for her passion when a member from her stable is racing, Fitzpatrick becomes extremely vocal if her runner is in front along the home straight.

As the excitement grows, Fitzpatrick can be heard over the race call on SkyChannel.

In fact, broadcaster Lachlan McIntosh has even acknowledged the howl during a call stating “start cheering Katrina”.

Rumour has it, if you’re standing anywhere within a 50-kilometre radius of the track, you will recognise Fitzpatrick’s cheers!

Well, as rambunctious as Fitzpatrick can be, she may have struggled to be heard during the first event in Shepparton last night.

With his entrant hitting the front leaving the back straight, Brandon Bonavia became energetic beyond his means with cheers of “Go Cheetah” lasting the final 300 metres.

Bonavia’s boisterous support was not only crystal clear on SkyChannel, but like Fitzpatrick, is said to have been heard in surrounding towns such as Arcadia, Byrneside and Tallygaroopna!

In what is best described as an understatement, Bonavia declared “Yeah, I got pretty excited”.

“Cheetah” is Cheetah Lodge, which was driven by Chris Alford to outstay his rivals in 1:57.2 over 2190 metres.

Beginning from the middle of the back row, the son of For A Reason scored by four-and-a-half metres from Wind Sock, with Shaq 11-and-a-half metres away third.

“He’d been working a treat and I was very confident with him to the point I felt he could sit in the ‘death seat’ and win, which is what he did,” Bonavia said.

“That’s only his second start for me, so I am pretty happy to get the win.”
