PROMINENT trainer Todd Rattray believes handy pacer Hayleys Comet is harness racing’s version of a box of chocolates.
As Forrest Gump ever-so-eloquently explained “you never know what you’re going to get” when opening a box of chocolates.
Although he is racing in solid form, Hayleys Comet is also like opening a surprise packet when he heads to the track according to Rattray.
“To be honest you don’t know what you’re going to get with him,” Rattray declared. “He can be temperament as sometimes he won’t go, but when he does, he goes well.
“That said he is working better than he ever and is improving all the time.”
Successful in Launceston last weekend, Hayleys Comet will return to the same venue on Friday night where he has drawn barrier three.
The son of Rock N Roll Heaven led throughout against a similar field from the same draw during his latest victory.
“He’s going along alright and hopefully can keep going like he is,” Rattray said. “It’s a good draw for him and he will go forward again from there.
“He’s no star and it’s an even field, so he will need a bit of luck, but it is a winnable race.”
