I’M rapt…it’s the biggest thrill of my short career…

Such was the joy from Jayden Brewin after capturing yesterday’s Drivers’ Invitational at Port Pirie.

Competing against a host of local and interstate stars, Brewin upstaged his rivals to claim the title.

“Just to be a part of the series was great, but to come home with the win is terrific,” Brewin said. “I’ve met the drivers before, but it is always good to compete against some of the top drivers from interstate.”

Beginning the series with a second as Queensland raider Pete McMullen opening the card with a win, Brewin reversed the result in the following event.

Partnering Canelliesparkle, Brewin relegated McMullen to second with High Class Lady.

Brewin then took the outright lead when he guided Gotango to a soft win for trainer Michael Dennis.

Watching from the grandstands in two of the next three rounds – which saw him earn the four-point average – Brewin also registered a third to finish the event at the top of the table with 55 points.

Local idol Wayne Hill and Western Australian representative, Shannon Suvaljko, filled the placings with 41 and 40 points.

“When I saw the fields I felt like I had some handy drives and draws and it worked out well for me,” Brewin said.

“Overall, it was a wonderful experience for which I have to thank the club and the others drivers in the series.”
