LIFE has been made somewhat easier for I Break The Line ahead of tomorrow night’s Club Menangle meeting.

Looking to extend his perfect record for the season, I Break The Line is engaged in a New South Wales-bred Final in which the Australian Pacing Gold purchase drew awkwardly in barrier six.

Following a pair of scratchings, however, I Break The Line slots into gate four to the delight of trainer Michael Xuereb.

“It’s certainly better than six,” Xuereb said. “He’s fair from the gate and can find his way out.

“The plan is to have a look for the lead, but I will let Luke (McCarthy, driver) decide how hard he goes to see if it is there…it’s his decision.

“What I can tell you is he’s feeling good and is ready to go.”

Citing El Camino as the main danger, Xuereb believes fellow heat winner, Ultimate Rhapsody, “holds the key to the race from the pole”.

Also successful in a heat, El Camino has drawn gate eight.

“El Camino is the one to beat even from a wider draw,” Xuereb said. “Ultimate Rhapsody can begin quite quickly and probably holds the key to the race from the pole.

“There are some nice young horses and solid form, so it won’t be easy.”
