Australasian record obliterated

BRILLIANT youngster Loucasso obliterated the Australasian three-year-old record at Club Menangle last night.

Contesting a New South Wales Breeders’ Challenge semi-final, Loucasso covered the mile in a breathtaking 1:47.6 to slash 1.2 seconds from Sao Paulo Simba’s mark.

Sao Paulo Simba set the standard with his victory at Club Menangle on September 8, 2025.

Loucasso’s performance also cut 1.3 seconds off Leap To Fame’s record for three-year-old colts.

Only four pacers have gone quicker on this side of the equator!

My Field Marshall became the first – and remains the only – to better 1:47 thanks to his 1:46.9 2018 Miracle Mile triumph.

Have Faith In Me stopped the clock in 1:47.5 in February 2016, with Cya Art equalling the time in September 2025.

Rakero Rocket rounds out the quartet after he thrilled onlookers with his 1:47.3 win last January.

With trainer Seaton Grima in the cart, Loucasso worked to the lead from barrier eight before scoring by two metres from Nocturnal, with Cowboy Culture 11 metres away third.

“He went super,” Grima said. “I expected him to run a quick time as his fitness has improved, but he’s still not 100 per cent.

“He really wanted to run and I knew we were travelling, then at the top of the straight I turned the stick and he took off.

“Every time Blake got a little closer with Nocturnal I let him run and he found more.

“The scary thing is he could’ve gone 26 in that last quarter if he was pushed harder…that’s Miracle Mile speed!”
