HE MADE a perfect local debut a fortnight ago, but Renko will struggle to maintain the momentum when he returns to Globe Derby tonight.

That’s the call from trainer Aaron Coad, who believes Renko may find the class rise difficult.

That’s not to say Coad has no confidence in the son of The Gold Ace, which will begin from barrier three!

“He did a great job in his first run for me…it was an ideal way to debut,” Coad said. “He’s been working great since, but may struggle a little in this grade.

“He races better when leading, but I can’t see him crossing Rakero Storm in barrier two.

“I reckon Rakero Storm will lead pretty easily, which will make him close to impossible to beat, but we’ll be doing our best.

“It will take the right run and amount of luck, but if we get it, we’ll make a fist of it.”

Aware of Renko’s best racing pattern, Coad will study the meeting programs locally and interstate for suitable targets.

“I’ll keep finding the right races where he is a better chance of leading,” Coad said. “I’ll just keep seeing what’s on for him at Globe Derby and maybe a suitable one in Mildura.”
