Confidence high with ‘moral’

TO SAY confidence is high with Nurburgring ahead of tomorrow’s Albion Park meeting would be an understatement.

A recent arrival at the Steve Borg stable, Nurburgring has had three starts for a win, second and a fourth.

During his victory the son of Bettors Delight rated a brilliant 1:50.7 over 1660 metres.

Nurburgring’s time is just three-tenths of a second outside the track record held by Im Themightyquinn and Cruz.

Im Themightyquinn established the mark in on July 5 2014, before Cruz equalled his time nine weeks ago.

Thrilled with the gelding’s progress Borg considers Nurburgring to be a ‘moral’ from barrier five.

To be driven by Narissa McMullen, the five-year-old is listed as a $3 favourite.

Despite drawing the outside of the second row, With The Band is the $3.20 second elect.

“Tomorrow is a drop in class on what he has been racing,” Borg said. “I can’t see him being beaten.

“His work has been terrific and he is thriving since he got here.

“It is going to take a big effort to beat him.”

Predicting Nurburgring can complete a smooth transition through the grades, Borg has set his sights on feature targets early in the New Year.

“I can’t see any reason why he won’t get to open company,” Borg said. “At this stage I will give him a couple more runs then look at an M0 with him.

“If he keeps going the way we hope there are a few nice options for him during summer.”
