Promising filly ready to extend winning streak

PROMISING youngster The Sneaky Fox will require luck in her bid to extend her winning streak when she heads back to Globe Derby.

Successful at her two starts from a break, The Sneaky Fox is the widest drawn of seven starters over 1800 metres.

Along with the difficult draw the Paul Cavallaro-trained filly will compete against the ‘boys’ on Saturday night.

“There is a bit going against her, but I’m still confident with her,” Cavallaro said. “Her two runs this time in have been terrific and she continues to improve each time she steps out.

“She hasn’t raced for nearly three weeks, but I gave her a trial and I’m more than pleased with the way she went.”

Cavallaro has every reason to be pleased with The Sneaky Fox’s hit out as the beaten brigade during the trial includes Soho Bob, which shapes as the main danger.

The Sneaky Fox also sat outside Soho Bob before scoring by three metres during their racing clash on August 24.

Soho Bob will begin from barrier five.

“Soho Bob is a nice type and is the one to beat again,” Cavallaro said. “We’ve managed to have the wood on him but it doesn’t take much for that to change.”

With his sights set on the Southern Cross with the daughter of Art Major, Cavallaro will “find some suitable races” during the lead up to the futurity.

“The Southern Cross is the main aim with her this season,” Cavallaro said. “That’s still a while off so I will find some suitable races where I can to keep her ticking over.”
