Demand for answers as attack on trainer esculates

HARNESS Racing SA is seeking information in relation to a disturbing and escalating campaign of criminal conduct directed at the Johnson Stables.

The incidents under investigation include:

• 8 December 2025 – Throwing of Molotov cocktail incendiary devices

• 2 January 2026 – Deliberate lighting of a motor vehicle on fire

• 7 January 2026 – Graffiti applied to boundary fencing

• 11 January 2026 – Dumping of oil, hardware items and broken glass on part of the training track

• 12 January 2026 – Attempted further graffiti

These acts are criminal, deliberate, and dangerous. They pose a serious threat to the safety of people, horses, and property.

Of particular concern is the sabotage of the training track. The placement of oil, metal objects and broken glass is a heinous act that could have resulted in catastrophic injury to both horses and drivers.

This behaviour goes well beyond nuisance vandalism – it is reckless, malicious, and intolerable.
South Australia Police are actively investigating these matters.

In parallel, Harness Racing SA makes it clear that any person found to be involved in this conduct, where they have any interest in harness racing, will face action under the Australian Harness Racing Rules.

This includes regulatory, disciplinary and licensing consequences. There will be no tolerance for conduct that undermines safety, integrity or public confidence in the sport.
