UNSURE exactly what has prompted Shazzam’s recent purple patch, trainer Jeremy Seal isn’t prepared to look a form horse in the mouth!

Contemplating “moving on” the son of A Rocknroll Dance a couple of months ago, Seal has been forced to change his plans given Shazzam’s latest performances.

Since returning from a short break – and the prospect of being sacked – Shazzam has registered a third and three consecutive wins.

“I was thinking about moving him on then he had an accident on the training track so I gave him a couple of weeks off and started again,” Seal said. “He ran third first-up, then won his next start, so he got a reprieve.

“He’s won his last three now, which is a bit of a surprise.

“Everything has been the same with him at home, so I don’t know what’s changed with him, but I’m not going to question it.

“Sam (Pascoe) has driven him during his last three runs, so maybe he’s happy having her jump on.”

Poised to return to Globe Derby tomorrow night, Shazzam has dawn barrier five, with Pascoe to hold the reins once again.

“It’s a pretty even field with a bit of form in it, but the way he has been going, he is a chance,” Seal said. “Dina Mo from barrier two is the one to beat as are all of Greg Scholefield’s team.

“Like I said, there is not a lot between them, with American Beauty and Carly Morgan also good chances.

“It’s one of those races where one of several can win and you won’t be surprised.”
