PROVING a little too well-named at times, Powderkeg is a case of “who knows?” at Globe Derby on Saturday night.

Without doubt the most talented trotter in the field, the Group One winner can also prove to be a costly prospect due to his wayward manners.

As trainer Jill Neilson stated “he is a fuse waiting to go off”, which is highlighted by Powderkeg’s Outside of the Draw status in mobiles!

The only ODM runner in the field, Powderkeg will begin from barrier seven over 2230 metres.

“I was pleased with his run in the stand when first-up from a long break a couple of weeks ago,” Neilson said. “He came off 30 metres and was a solid fourth.

“He is back to a mobile this week, which means anything could happen. I trialled him on Sunday and he was far from on his best behaviour.

“You never know what kind of mood he is going to be in on the night as he is a fuse waiting to go off.

“On his best behaviour he should be too good.”

Neilson will also be represented by Lovelorn, which has drawn gate four.

“He’s such a consistent type which should be thereabouts again,” Neilson said. “It’s a somewhat even field, with Barhoon and Millys Magic the biggest dangers.”
