RACE ONE:

Peaking in condition following three runs since a spell, and drawing ideally, ARDEN MESSI (3) appeals as the one to beat. Two runs into his latest campaign and the Kevin Pizzuto-trained son of Bettors Delight was successful over this course and distance (2300m) when he was able to stalk the leader, prior to accounting for Summit Special and Major Jellis. Josh Gallagher attempted to produce a carbon copy performance last week, however, the step-up in grade resulted in a competitive 5.8m 4th to Hes Chiming, with the classy Alta Orlando finishing a photo second. The quality 5yo will find this assignment more to his liking and with the prospect of another kind run from the outset, Arden Messi will have sufficient energy in reserve to make a bold play for the top spot. YIANNI (2) has been mixing his form since leaving the Emma Stewart stable and joining the Jason Grimson team. The 5yo has been runner-up either side of a moderate effort when 9th to Alpine Stride, but with his latest effort resulting in a pleasing 3.5m 2nd behind Spirit Of Anzac a week ago, when held up for a run at a vital stage, the son of Changeover is capable of again being pro-active in the finish. SUMMIT SPECIAL (8) has been runner-up in each of his past two trips to Headquarters, the latter behind Arden Messi when he came from a deep peg role. The wide draw won’t be an issue as the son of Mr Feelgood will again occupy a role back in the pack, prior to unleashing his challenge for the top spot over the final 300m. COLLINA KAY JAY (7) is back racing with plenty of confidence, courtesy of back-to-back wins, and he will again be in the mix from the outset so don’t ignore his claims of completing the hat-trick. LA PUDDIE (9) is always thereabouts and is an ideal exotic player while SMOOTH BAHT (11) hasn’t had a great deal go his way of late and despite the outside gate, the Steve Turnbull-trained 5yo stays under notice when it comes to multiple transactions. SEND IT (4) and SWAGGIE SHANNON (6) also have claims in that regard.

ARDEN MESSI 1, Yianni 2, Sunmit Special 3, Collina Kay Jay 4.

RACE TWO:

Despite drawing the outside gate, ARDENS ACE (11) is still capable of coming up trumps as the Tony Bertwistle-prepared son of Art Major is the class runner of the field. Although the 4yo hasn’t greeted the judge since scoring at Headquarters last November, his form has remained solid. Ardens Ace has had three runs back from a brief break, with two placings and a creditable 4th posted, with his latest outing resulting in an 18.8m 3rd to Collina Kay Jay a week ago when he worked home stoutly from a rearward role. A similar racing may unfold once again. however, Ardens Ace is capable of proving hard to hold out this time around. The Peter Russo-prepared ITZ MONTANA JET (4) will attract attention here after the former Tasmanian produced a more than useful effort in defeat, also in the race won by Collina Kay Jay. Beaten for gate speed in settling in a rearward role, then four pegs on the turn, the son of Somebeachsomewhere had little luck securing a clear run over the final stages, which resulted in a 21.4m fifth. The beaten margin is misleading when looking at his effort. With the benefit of his first run in a month and, his first look at Menangle under race conditions, Itz Montana Jet should be kept safe. EVERYBODYLOVEDRAY (6) was never a factor in finishing a 13.2m 7th to Lets Get Rockin last week, but the 7yo is entilted to further consideration on his solid form prior to that display, which includes a solid win over Iylac Beach and Loui. This challenge is certainly well-within his reach. Numerous exotic chances which include DELIGHTFUL ANGEL (1), SMOOTH OVERARM (2), CAMANCHI WARRIOR (7) and GROSESTAR (9).

ARDENS ACE 1, Itz Montana Jet 2, Everybodylovedray 3, Delightful Angel 4.

RACE THREE:

It is hard to go past the David Thorn-trained RED REACTOR (9) should tackle this contest as the one to beat, with the wide gate causing just a slight concern. The son of  Auckland Reactor usually likes to settle off the pace, which was the case two starts ago when he finished strongly in defeating Always Rockin and Wheres Seggy. The 7yo drew the outside gate a week ago, which resulted in the chestnut settling well back in the pack, and still in a tricky position approaching the home turn. Over the final stages, Red Reactor hit the line with intent, resulting in a 3.5m 3rd behind Spirit Of Anzac. The 2300m will suit Red Reactor so expect him to power home over the top of his rivals.

RED REACTOR

ZOLIVER (8) has been hard to follow since greeting the judge four runs ago when he led throughout in defeating Ardens Ace and Justa Little Bit. Unplaced in three subsequent outings, the 6yo battled on stoutly from behind the leader in recording a creditable 5.5m 5th to Spirit Of Anzac last week. A wider draw awaits but the son of Mach Three should be able to cross and settle close to the action. ALWAYS ROCKIN (5) is capable of being involved in the finish after coming from well-back on the pegs in posting a 7m 6th to Major Obahma. The 8yo led when a gritty 1.2m 2nd to Red Reactor two starts back and a repeat of that effort would see give this shake. FEAR CRUISIN (6) has been thereabouts of late and is capable of causing a minor upset while CHECK IN (7), UNCLE JAY (10) and VINCENT VAN GONE (1), which is resuming without an odfficial trial, can’t be taken lightly as he does have the ability to take advantage of the pole position. Watch any positive betting moves concerning the Kevin Pizzuto runner.

RED REACTOR 1, Zoliver 2, Always Rockin 3, Fear Cruisin 4.

RACE FOUR:

PUMP THE BRAKES (5) is ready to strike winning form following another solid showing at Headquarters a week ago. After securing cover for the first half of the contest, the Sean Grayling trained and driven 8yo was left exposed outside of the leader with 800m to run, and in posting a gritty 6.7m 6th to Loorrim Lake, the son of a Dawn Ofa New Day was far from being disgraced. After contesting the Inter Dominion series, which was a tough assignment, Pump The Brakes has now had four runs since a spell, and he looks suitably placed in this field, with the draw also a positive factor. After greeting the judge at Newcastle, the Mark Callaghan-trained LACEYS LAD (7) has produced a couple of solid displays at this venue, the latter when he worked to the line in a committed fashion to record a 5.6m 6th to Double Encounter a few weeks ago. The 7yo son of Lis Mara has again drawn the middle of the line, but challenge appears slightly more easier and that will enhance the winning prospects of Laceys Lad. The Amanda Turnbull trained and driven ELLMERS IMAGE (11) has been freshened since posting a creditable 8.5m 5th to The Mustang at Bathurst on Mar 18. The son of Falcon Seelster has drawn awkwardly out wide, but his racing pattern in dropping out and coming with a late surge will help offset that obstacle. With a sound Bathurst trial behind him, Ellmers Image is worthy of consideration as this will be a suitable contest, compared to his encounters before spelling. MARTY MAJOR (4) resumed with a creditable 9m 4th to Yoha at Newcastle recently, and with that encouraging effort and a higher level of fitness, the 9yo could be the value player. PITCH PERFECT (8) is racing below his best but he found his best form, this challenge would certainly suit the son of Bettors Delight. ATOMIC RED (9) is also in the mix when it comes to multiple transactions, along with RAGNAAR (3).

PUMP THE BRAKES 1, Laceys Lad 2, Ellmers Image 3, Marty Major 4.

RACE FIVE:

The Brad Hewitt trained and driven HEZ DUSTY (8) appeals as the stand-out investment on the card. With the benefit of three runs back from a spell, all resulting in solid placings, the son of For A Reason is now ready to greet the judge. Runner-up to stablemate Arma Renegade when resuming, then filling the same role behind the talented Ilikemebettor, despite being beaten 26m, Hez Dusty then recorded a determined 8.3m 3rd to Lets Get Rockin and Rockin With Elvis at Menangle a week ago, facing the breeze for the majority of the 2300m. With his condition now peaking and contesting a race which looks ideal, Hez Dusty is poised to continue the run of success being enjoyed by the stable. LITTLE BLISS (5) has been thereabouts in most of her recent assignments, including a solid 9.5m 4th to Lets Get Rockin in the same race as Hez Dusty. The Art Major mare has again drawn handily and that should ensure another compettive display. WESTERN STYLE (3) will be having his first Menangle assignment and while that can be daunting, the 5yo has drawn close to the pegs and that will assist in securing a forward role from the outset. Recent form on the country circuit has been consistent and although a slightly harder task awaits, the Trevor White-prepared son of Western Terror is capable of a bold showing. Forget SAINT EMILION (7) w ent around at Bathurst as the son of Mach Three struck trouble in finishing a 15.7m 6th behind Lyrical Genius. Prior to that appearance the 5yo had been racing in fine fashion, including a win at Bathurst. When it comes to forming multiple transactions, DUKKAH (10) and SCHOUTEN ISLAND (11) should be included. If, the David Thorn-trained EVERYBODYLOVEDRAY (4) comes off the bench, then include the 7yo in the top bracket of chances as this will be a suitable challenge for the son of Always A Virgin.

HEZ DUSTY 1, Little Bliss 2, Western style 3, Saint Emilion 4.

RACE SIX:

With the benefit of last weeks outing, ALTA ORLANDO (9) will strip fitter and that will present the classy 10yo with the opportunity to go one better this time around. Following a ‘hit and run’ visit to NZ for the ‘Slots’ race, which resulted in a 7th to Self Assured at Cambridge, Alta Orlando faced the starter for the first time in five weeks when he showed his usual gate speed in crossing from a wide alley, prior to taking a sit on the evetual winner, Hes Chiming. Displaying plenty of desire to greet the judge, Alta Orlando failed by the nose margin in securing the 24th win of his career. Back to 1609m, compared to 2300m of that assignment, the Belinda McCarthy-trained son of Coiurage Under Fire will be ready to go one better. The Paul Fitzpatrick-conditioned ZEUSS BROMAC (10) returns to the track following his outstanding win in the Ainsworth FFA on Mar 5 when he powered home in the G1 event, accounting for the champion mare Stylish Memphis and Triple Eight. The

ALTA ORLANDO

5yo son of Bettors Delight has trialled nicely for his return and the fact that he has been runner-up in each of his previous two efforts, following a spell, would suggest that Zeuss Bromac is bound to make his presence felt. FIRE FOX (8) will be confronted by his toughest test since arriving from NZ to join the Jason Grimson stable, but he is worthy of adding to the main list of contenders. Boasting three wins and a second since crossing the Tasman, the 5yo son of Sweet Lou has also drawn wide for this first and that is another hurdle, however, the wraps have always been good. Grimson will also be represented by HES CHIMING (5) was having his first run for the team when he fought on bravely in defeating Alta Orlando and Mach Shard, and although this will be a tougher test, the talented 7yo will strip fitter as that was his first outing two months. Exotic combinations should also include LOORRIM LAKE (2), which has drawn ideally and is coming off a return to winning form, ALPINE STRIDE (7) and DOUBLE ENCOUNTER (3). WILDWEST (11) arrives from the west and will be having his first outing for Belinda McCarthy. The 6yo trialled well but first-up since early February and leaving the machine from the outside gate, will add to the degree of difficulty at this stage of his campaign. Certainly one to monitor for coming weeks.

ALTA ORLANDO 1, Zeuss Bromac 2, Fire Fox 3, Hes Chiming 4.

RACE SEVEN:

The G1 TAB Regional Championships State Final highlights the card and it is impossible to go past LETS GET ROCKIN (7) as the one to beat. Prepared by Michael Doltoff and to be driven by Jack Callaghan, the classy son of Mach Three has won his past two in fine fashion, and in the process has added to the success both trainer and driver have been enjoying in recent weeks. Lets Get Rockin led when he comfortably defeated Rockin With Elvis and Hez Dusty in the Regional Final, a qualifying event for this rich culmination of the series. Less both reserves and Lets Get Rockin will occupy gate five and no doubt Callaghan will be keen to ‘get rockin’ from the outset in finding the lead and dictating the terms of the 2300m race from start to finish. Apart from Lets Get Rockin, the Sloys ownership also feature in the main threat, if there is one, in FAR OUT BRO (5), which is under the care of Adam Ruggari. Callaghan has also guided the son of Mach Three to his past two wins, the latter the Regional Hunter Final at Newcastle. Also ideally drawn, Far Out Bro will be driven by Chris Geary and with the prospect of securing a role close to the action, Far Out Bro will give the connections the opportunity to enjoy running, one-two. ROCKNROLL RUNA (2) gained entry into this race with a stylish all the-way win in the Regional Riverina Final, defeating Defiant and Barrett, courtesy of an astute front-running drive by Jackson Painting. The 4yo will again be in the thick of the action from the outset, with a stalking role bound to be on offer in this stronger assignment. That will certainly assist Rocknroll Runa in his quest to be pro-active in the finish. LYRICAL GENIUS (3) also draws well and with back-to-back Bathurst wins to his credit, the Amanda Turnbull trained and driven 4yo has claims when it comes to the multiples. Others to include in that regard are BARRETT (8), ROCKIN WITH ELVIS (12) and BEALE STREET (9).

LETS GET ROCKIN 1, Far Out Bro 2, Rocknroll Runa 3, Lyrical Genius 4.

RACE EIGHT:

ILLAWONG STARDUST (10) will be looking to go back-to-back, following a strong display last week when the talented mare accounted for Kyvalley Chief and On Advice over 2300m. This time around the 5yo daughter of Muscle Hill has drawn wider and is coming back to the sprint trip, however, the recent addition to the Belinda McCarthy stable is more than capable of again getting the job done. Staying under notice as the ‘x-factor’ is ONE APOLLO (5), a former Kiwi which is now under the care of Trevor Munday. The 6yo son of One Over Da Moon has been off the scene since scoring on Jan 29, the gelding overcoming a 30m hcp in the process, en route to easily defeating Peregrine and Chinese Whisper, the latter has since enjoyed success since joining the Andy Gath stable. One Apollo has trialled well and from his handy draw, don’t ignore as a contender for the top spot. Astute trotting mentor Blake Fitzpatrick has four runners, with FANCY (11) bound to attract plenty of attention, despite drawing the outside gate. The 4yo mare ended her previous term of racing with a win in the VSS 3YO Fillies Trot Final at Melton on Dec 31, defeating Queen Invasion and Sangreal in the process. With the benefit of two solid trials, Fancy has been prepared for a strong showing. ON ADVICE (8), another of Blake’s runners, posted a respectable 4.7m 3rd to Illawong Stardust last week and is bound to make his presence felt once again. Expect a better showing from a fitter and well drawn GUS AN MAORI (2) while ALDEBARAN URSULA (7) is capable of making a play for a role in the multiples.

ILLAWONG STARDUST 1, One Apollo 2, Fancy 3, On Advice 4.

RACE NINE:

Intriguing race to end the card with Jack Trainor holding the key to the finish, courtesy of TOWN ECHO (9) and B K SWY (8). Unbeaten in four runs since joining Trainor, following a productive career in NZ, TOWN ECHO will be confronted by her toughest test since arriving on these shores, with the outside gate adding to the degree of difficulty. However, the Art Major mare has been impressive each time she has stepped out onto the track. Town Echo has led in winning three of those faces, the latest when she accounted for Pearl Harbour and Smooth Rye a month ago. Freshened, Town Echo will again be driven by Cam Hart, who has been in the sulky in three of those wins. Trainer will partner B K SWY, which is proving hard to follow of late. Since finishing an outstanding 1.7m 3rd to Stylish Memphis in the G1 Queen Elizabeth Mile on Feb 26, the talented daughter of Big Jim has failed to fill a place in three starts, the latest resulting in a poor and costly last behind The Honey Queen a couple of weeks ago. There is no doubt, if focused and in the right

TOWN ECHO

mood, B K Swy would take a power of beating. It may be a case of taking the 5yo on trust. At the other end of the scale is PEARL HARBOUR (5) which doesn’t know how to run a bad race. Since greeting the judge back on Feb 22, the 5yo mare has placed in her subsequent eight starts, the latest a week ago when she again worked home strongly in finishing a head 2nd to Soho Rhapsody. Expect to see Pearl Harbour occupying a forward role in again making her presence felt. YARRAMAN BELLA (7) is another mare racing with plenty if confidence and it will come as no surprise if the Brad Hewitt trained and driven daughter of Village Jolt plays a prominent role in the finish. The top four picks look ‘head and shoulders’ above the remaining five runners and as result, should fill the exotic roles.

TOWN ECHO 1, B K Swy 2, Pearl Harbour 3, Yarraman Bella 4.
