“I can’t see him being beaten”
EXCITING pacer Lochinvar Art is expected to have no trouble returning to the winners’ circle despite a difficult draw in Bendigo tonight.
Runner-up in the Breeders’ Crown Four-Year-Old Championship three weeks ago, Lochinvar Art is engaged in a Vicbred Super Series heat.
Along with being a raging favourite in the qualifier, the David Moran-trained entire heads the market in the overall series.
The prestigious futurity concludes with a Group One Final at Tabcorp Park Melton on New Year’s Eve.
To come from barrier eight – inside of the second row – Lochinvar Art is a prohibitive $1.04 hot shot with TAB Fixed Odds.
Im Sir Blake is the only other runner under double figures at $9.50 from the pole.
“I went a little easy on him after his last run, so he could do with the hit out, but he’s still forward enough to win,” Moran said.
“The draw isn’t ideal, but I can’t see him being beaten to be honest.
“Sure anything can happen in this game, but I can’t see there being a problem.”
Lochinvar Art’s recent defeat came via Hurricane Harley, which is at $1.07 in his heat.
Prepared by premier horsewoman Emma Stewart, Hurricane Harley has drawn to find his favourite role as pacemaker from barrier two.
“Hurricane Harley is the one to beat in the series,” Moran said. “As he has proven, if he was to lead in the Final he will take a hell of a lot of running down.”
