LOOK out Sydney, ‘scary’ pacer Captain Ravishing is heading your way.

First-up from an 11-week spell, Captain Ravishing completed an arrogant victory in The Bonanza at Tabcorp Park Melton just moments ago.

As such, the Australian Pacing Gold purchase has earned a berth in the famed Chariots Of Fire at Club Menangle.

The nation’s premier four-year-old event, the $250,000 Chariots Of Fire is scheduled to be conducted on February 18.

The Group One also offers the winner a position in the $1million Garrards Miracle Mile field at the world class venue on March 4.

“This is a path we have followed before, racing first-up in the Bonanza and then the Chariots, so it’s a plan which was laid out for him some time ago,” trainer Emma Stewart said.

“He’s off to Sydney now for the Chariots and hopefully the Miracle Mile after that.

“There is so much to like about him such as the speed and stamina he showed tonight. He’s sat in the breeze and gone 1:50.9 over 1720 metres when first-up from a break…you just don’t see that everyday.

“He has the potential to be the best we have ever had in the stable.”

Driven by Mark Pitt, Captain Ravishing was caught three-wide early from barrier five before being settled outside the leader, Invitation Only.

Striding clear of the pack leaving the back straight, the son of Captaintreacherous was untouched on his way to a 22-metre win from Heza Son Of Agun.

Another APG purchase, Interest Free was seven metres away third.

“Ride High was the best I have driven, but this bloke could take over that mantle,” Pitt said. “He’s just done it so easily tonight…I didn’t even pull the plugs.

“It’s scary to think how good he’ll be once he’s fully fit.”
