DESCRIBING it as his greatest moment within harness racing, prominent owner Merv Butterworth hopes to emulate the feeling on Saturday night.

In 2015, Butterworth, who races his team with his wife Meg, held the prestigious A G Hunter Cup aloft thanks to Arden Rooney.

Trained and driven by champion horsewoman Kerryn Manning, Arden Rooney scored from Franco Ledger and Easy On The Eye.

This weekend the Butterworths will head to Tabcorp Park Melton in search of a second win in the Grand Circuit event via star New Zealander, Copy That.

Trained by Ray Green, the son of American Ideal heads into the $500,000 feature fresh from his Group One Ballarat Cup success a fortnight ago.

“Meg and I have been fortunate to win some big races, but none is better than the Hunter Cup,” Butterworth said.

“Winning the Hunter Cup with Arden Rooney was, and still is, my biggest thrill in the sport.

“With a bit of luck we’ll have another one on Saturday night.”

To be driven by Blaire Orange, Copy That has drawn barrier six, with TAB Fixed Odds placing the stallion at the head of betting at $3.10.

Spirit Of St Louis from the pole and Honolua Bay from gate four are considered the biggest threats at $5.50.

“I’m happy with the draw,” Butterworth said. “With a lot of speed inside him, it gives him a chance to avoid the early burn.

“Spirit Of St Louis is the one to beat from the draw, especially if he leads without doing too much work.”
