Looking to emulate famous dam
EXCEPTIONALLY-BRED youngster Peaceful will take a step towards emulating one of her famous mother’s feats when she heads to Club Menangle tonight.
Successful in a series heat four weeks ago, Peaceful is poised to tackle a Breeders’ Challenge semi-final.
Should all go according to plan, the two-year-old will then contest the $150,000 Final at the world class venue in a fortnight.
By top stallion Sweet Lou, Peaceful is from former star mare, Frith.
A winner of eight Group Ones, Frith’s top shelf triumphs include the Breeders’ Challenge as a three-year-old.
Frith was retired with an outstanding record of 39 wins and 14 placings from 63 starts for earnings of $1,180,345, making her the fourth richest mare in Australasia.
“Her dam was an out and out superstar, so she has a long way to go before she can be compared to her,” trainer Cameron Ross said. “Winning the Final would be a step in the right direction though.
“She has shown she has a fair amount of ability, but she will need it to win from a wide draw tonight.
“Barrier 11 makes it tough and this is without doubt her biggest test.
“The main aim is to make it into the Final then we can hope for a better draw.”
